Cookery Workshops
Cookery workshops were held at both St George’s and Summerhill Schools. During the workshops children explored things that affected what people ate in 1914 – 1918, both at the front and at home. They learnt about food shortages and rationing, and how these would have affected their local community. They looked at what ordinary people did to make the most of the ingredients available to them, and every child made their own “War Cake” to take home.
