Sergeant Richard Woodward MSM

Richard was the eldest of the three Woodward brothers to be killed. Before the war Richard worked as an assistant to the Prosecuting Solicitor of Liverpool Corporation. He enlisted on December 8th, 1914 into the 6th Batallion (The Liverpool Rifles) King’s (Liverpool Regiment). He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) in 1917, before being badly wounded in September 1918. Returning home for treatment, he died of his wounds a few weeks later and is buried in the family plot in Heswall, Wirral.
