Henry was born in Maghull and lived with his parents on Deyes Lane. He and his wife Sarah moved to Nantwich, Cheshire. He enlisted into the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. Lance Corporal Houghton was killed during shelling in the Ypres Salient in 1916 and is buried in Essex Farm Cemetery, near Ypres, Belgium.
