The son of John and Mary Prescott, of Melling Lane, Maghull, Frank responded to Lord Derby’s call and volunteered in September 1914, joining the 18th Battallion, (2nd City Pals), King’s (Liverpool Regiment). After training on what is now the car park at Knowsley Safari Park, he set off for France. Wounded early in July 1916, Private Prescott succumbed to his injuries a few weeks later at Etaples hospital, near Boulogne, where he is buried. His brother Herbert also died in the war.
