Alfred, who grew up in Maghull, lived with his wife Mary at 36 Kingswood Avenue, Aintree. He volunteered for the 1st Battallion, King’s (Liverpool Regiment). Private Tattersall was killed during the attacks on Redan Ridge on the Somme in November 1916, and is buried in Serre Road Number 2 Cemetery, the largest CWGC cemetery on the Somme.
