John was the son of Robert and Ellen Rimmer, and he lived at The Brook, Maghull. After enlisting with the King’s (Liverpool Regiment) he joined the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. The circumstances of his death at King George’s Hospital, Ilford, Essex, are unknown. Private Rimmer’s body was brought home for burial at St Andrew’s Church, Maghull.
