Maghull’s Fallen Heroes

The project focused mainly on the First World War Memorial at St Andrew’s CE Primary School, Maghull. In this case, the school itself IS the War Memorial, but the names are written on a stone at the front of the church. However, historians were keen to point out that not all eligible soldiers were included on the memorial stone, and so we have also looked at those who were not named on the stone but had connections with Maghull, and those buried in St Andrew’s Churchyard.

Children from Summerhill and St George’s Primary Schools visited St Andrews’ Church, where they learnt about all the soldiers from Bruce Hubbard, local historian.
